The construction of world-scale industrial facilities require ten of thousands of tons of expensive materials including steel, concrete, alloys, ceramics, and electronics. When plants fail to be economic we simply throw them away in our society. We must rethink and repurpose. We should not waste our resources, but rather we should reinvent them.
